TITLE Engineering Draftsperson COMPANY JTEKT North America DEPARTMENT Engineering -05 LOCATION Sylvania Georgia Facility CLASSIFICATION Hourly REPORTS TO Engineering Manager GRADE 5 REVISION DATE 05/01/2024   Shift 1st   Summary/Purpose The Engineering Draftsperson is responsible for maintaining drawings and print storage systems in the engineering department involving electronic design and documentation, hand drawing and documentation, cup check sheet system, and internal drawings for component manufacturing.  Need comprehensive knowledge of how tool systems work.  Must have a general knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine operation, and maintenance requirements or demonstrate the mechanical ability necessary to learn.  Specific responsibilities include technical design and documentation.  Candidates should have the ability and demonstrate proficiency to learn new systems quickly and efficiently and be capable and proactive in studying and developing new skills as needed to perform the job as the job requirements change. *The candidate selected for this position will participate in the formal Press Training and spend time working in the area to understand cup and tooling dimensioning. Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Maintain and continuously develop 5s system that addresses safety, housekeeping, quality, and continuous improvement. Proficient knowledge of industrial safety, ergonomics, quality control, and lean manufacturing concepts. Demonstrates capability to manage drafting assignments from start to finish and report results to supervision as required.  Demonstrates capability of producing cost estimates for planning of projects and preparing management level reports on completed projects to document results or needed actions for completion. Demonstrates capability of laying out project plans that schedule resources and predict completion dates. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of machine tool interaction and tool systems.  Demonstrates a high level of mechanical aptitude and is capable of passing a mechanical aptitude test. Demonstrates an excellent computer skill level in the Office group and AutoCAD.  Must demonstrate the ability to successfully complete PTC Creo training and be capable of producing drawings in both AutoCAD for 2D layout and electrical and PTC Creo 5.0 3D for tooling and tooling concepts.  Must be disciplined in documentation and document control to maintain both the electronic print database and the paper print database. Manage and maintain the customer-owned tooling database and identification of customer-owned tooling.  Must be disciplined in the documentation of changes to support IATF 16949 compliance, AS 9100 compliance and ISO 14001/45001 compliance. Must be capable of reading bearing prints and machine prints. Will be required to develop a working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance standards - Must be able to successfully complete training from an outside training resource within 1 year of accepting the position.  Must become proficient with the skill to a level to be able to teach others.  Maintain professional work environment.  Must have the ability to work well with others and be an effective communicator. Assist with problem solving and trouble shooting of downtime issues insuring maximum efficiency and fastest turn around is accomplished. Maintain a good working knowledge of plant policies and plant procedures. Learn, support, and implement standard work practices and other Lean/JPS methods and philosophies searching for ways to apply these principles.  Seek out best practice and work toward a world standard of performance.  Identify both internal and external customers, understand the needs and expectations of these customers, and understand how job performance affects these customers.  Work to build great customer relations.  Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Must be able to maintain composure and focus to complete assigned tasks.  Must be able to demonstrate ability to write and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have organizational and documentation skills.  Must be able to multi-task to perform different tasks effectively and efficiently. Computer skill level must be high demonstrating the ability to understand and apply comprehensive software packages to produce drawings. Must be capable of measuring a non-documented tool and producing a drawing of that tool that will enable an exact duplicate to be manufactured by the drawing specification created.  May be required to work weekends or 2nd or 3rd shift at times as needed for special reasons.  May also be required to work holidays.  Compliance and Ethics Ensure JTEKT compliance and ethics standards are maintained in all areas of responsibility Safeguard Compliance by following all laws, rules and regulations Make Ethical choices when planning specific courses of action Comply with OSHA and SDS standards Education and Experience:  High School Diploma or GED required 2 years of design or drafting related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
