Job Description:
Project Overview / Contractor's Role:
The Agile Coach is an individual who has extensive Agile practical-usage experience and theoretical knowledge across a broad range of industries at various levels of Agile maturity. This leadership and mentoring role are highly adaptive and requires excellent communication (verbal, written), facilitation and presentation skills; wide breadth of technical aptitudes across Business and Technology roles; ability to assess situations, provide creative solutions and mitigations based on vast experience; and influence outcomes.
Stellar coaching and training skills are required to influence individuals, groups (project, program, portfolio) and enable organizational development with focus on cultural change, Lean principles and Change Management.
The individual works across all levels of the organization to increase Agile acumen, develop and enhance intellectual property, and standardize and implement processes and best practices to ensure successful adoption of Agile principles and techniques to achieve the greatest business value. The Agile Coach works with the team and senior leadership to drive the adoption and optimization of Agile practices across the Enterprise and must be abreast of the various Agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, etc.) at an advanced level. First-hand involvement with Agile transformation and scaling efforts is required. In addition to being an Agile expert, the Agile Coach provides mentoring and coaching to other Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters; and must be able to correlate learnings to principles and practices with supporting, relevant examples.
Experience Level: 3
Qualifications (must haves):
• Seasoned Agile Coach having a total of 18 years of total experience
• Working/Hands on experience with Agile teams using SAFe framework
• Expert understanding of advanced and basic software development methodologies and fundamentals (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.)
• Understanding of all facets of the software development life cycle including planning, requirements management, development, quality assurance, change management and release management
• Experience with developing, testing and deploying software utilizing a rapid, iterative delivery method
• Experience with continuous integration and test-driven development practices, test automation and tools
• Experience with Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps)
Top IT Skills/Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of Agile practical usage with 4 years as hands on Agile Coach
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required
• Involvement in the Agile community
• Agile Certifications such as SPC, IC Agile Coaching certifications
Nice to have (optional):
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Participate in execution of the Agile adoption strategy and rollout plans for identified portfolio
• Embrace servant leadership and display the behaviours to invoke mindset shifts associated with Agile methods
• Hands on involvement in helping leadership and teams adopt to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and establish the requisite practices, ceremonies and processes
• Coach peers, teams and management on Agile concepts, practices, benefits and metrics
• Lead and mentor a team of Scrum master's as people manager
• Evaluate and mentor new and existing Agile project teams
• Mentor to other members in the delivery organization such as Managers, Leads etc.
• Develop and deliver training programs for Agile project teams
• Establish, implement and capture team metrics with the ability to roll up and provide an executive view
• Actively participate in development programs to build in-house capability and skills for roles such as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Product Owner etc.
• Continuous assessment and improvement of Agile maturity levels
