Role Purpose:
Jumio Corporation, a world leader in online identity and ID verification, is seeking a Research Engineer to join our team at our Lenexa, KS office. The ideal candidate for this role should be proficient in Python and have experience with embedded system platforms such as Raspberry Pi. Knowledge of DIY electronics, hardware prototyping, and familiarity with AWS and SageMaker are highly desired. A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields is required.
Example Responsibilities:
- Work with DIY electronics, robotics, and rapid prototyping platforms such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino
- Apply image processing tools and libraries (e.g., Pillow, OpenCV) to analyze and manipulate images.
- Design experiments and perform benchmarking using machine learning concepts and metrics.
- Apply knowledge of photography and different camera hardware to research projects. Familiarity with biometric modalities, eKYC, and presentation attacks.
- Work with databases and cloud computing technologies, specifically AWS data pipelines and SageMaker. Collaborate with the team at the Lenexa, KS office on a daily basis.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or related fields (master’s preferred).
- A general understanding of DIY electronics/robotics/rapid prototyping and embedded systems (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.).
- Familiarity with 3D printing and other PAI (spoof) generation technologies.
- Familiarity with image processing tools.
- Proficient in Python with working knowledge of image processing (Pillow, OpenCV, etc) and deep learning (PyTorch and TensorFlow) libraries.
- Familiarity with the design of experiments.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and benchmarking metrics (e.g. ROC analysis).
- Knowledge of photography and different camera hardware.
- Familiarity with different biometric modalities, eKYC, and presentation attacks.
- Knowledge of databases and cloud computing, specifically AWS data pipelines and SageMaker.
- Must be able to travel to our Lenexa, KS office daily.
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Familiarity with C, C , and MATLAB.
- Previous experience in presentation attack detection and biometrics.
- Experience in robotics (hardware and ROS).
- An understanding of computational lighting and photography.
- Hands-on knowledge of deep learning, statistics, and statistical tests.
- Familiarity with domestic and international biometric data laws and regulations.
