POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate Director, Donor Communications plays a vital role in securing philanthropic support for Jumpstart through a strategic donor communications strategy.
This position requires a strong strategic thinker with progressive experience executing a strategic donor communications plan and the ability to be proactive and reactive to emerging organizational needs. They must be able to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, build internal consensus and foster collaboration across teams, manage multiple projects at once, possess strong project management skills, and have a passion for social justice.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES*
Digital Donor Strategy
*
Lead the development of a comprehensive communications and annual giving program that engages prospective donors, demonstrates philanthropic impact, and inspires ongoing support through multichannel content, a strong digital strategy, and personalized communications
- Provide strategic direction to all annual fundraising efforts, including donor acquisition strategies, segmentation approach, and stewardship campaigns
- Track campaign statistics, and develop and maintain practices for maximizing return on investment for annual fund campaigns
Annual Giving Calendar & Project Management
- Working closely with Director of Marketing and Communications, Development, and other teams across the organization, develop and manage an engaging and efficient integrated communications outreach calendar to donors that advances Jumpstart’s mission, deepens audience engagement, and increases philanthropic support
- Create, manage, and maintain a calendar of all Annual Giving campaigns, appeals, initiatives, and events
- Work closely with the Development Operations (Dev-Ops) team in all matters pertaining to data,
reporting, and assessment of fundraising progress to ensure targets are met
- Track campaign statistics, and develop and maintain practices for maximizing return on investment for annual fund campaigns
Communications and Messaging
- Build relationships with a range of senior internal and external stakeholders to inform and develop donor communications
- Partner with Content team to advance philanthropic giving through creative storytelling and impactful messaging
- Develop, create, and implement successful direct mail, email, and social media acquisition/solicitation and stewardship campaigns working collaboratively with Development, Marketing and Communications, Dev-Ops, and Content
- Manage design of campaign communications and collateral
- Supervise the Manager of Digital Communications and Outreach
- Partner with Development, Marketing and Communications, and Content team members on development of messaging and key content
- Maintain and manage Jumpstart’s external giving presence on jstart.org

QUALIFICATIONS*
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience, plus 5 years related experience
(marketing, communications, advertising, fundraising)
- Experience with direct mail and digital marketing best practices
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop productive working relationships with diverse individuals and groups across an organization
- Sound project management skills and ability to plan, organize, and assess multiple projects with
established budgets, deliverables, and timelines
- Strong eye for design, and experience creating assets for both web and print
- Experience with video creation and storytelling
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with Salesforce and/or other CRM
- Creative thinker with strong interest in branding and communications
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities
- On-going commitment and interest in social justice or diversity, equity and inclusion work
- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to travel to various locations as necessary in order to fulfill duties of the position

- Experience with creative and persuasive advancement writing
