SUMMARY Under general direction, to plan, organize, and supervise a variety of recreation and sports activities for the District, to supervise recreation coordinator and do other work as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Direct, review, and supervise recreational, social and cultural programs, athletics, sports and aquatic programs. Supervise and direct development of promotional and publicity materials. Maintains necessary forms and records. Interview, evaluate, and recommend selection of subordinate staff. Supervise, train and evaluate subordinate staff. Prepares and evaluates fees and prepares recommendation for establishment or revision. Public presentations to promote and encourage participation. Working effectively with various agencies to promote district programs. |

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages subordinate supervisors who supervises employees in the Recreation Division, Maintenance Division and Administrative Division. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and trailing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Maintain a valid California Driver's License and be eligible to obtain a California Class B Driver’s License. Must possess First Aid/CPR (Infant, Child & Adult) certification at time of hire or within 60 days from date of hire.
