What are the responsibilities and job description for the Care Team Specialist- Security Officer position at JWCH Institute?
Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor, the Care Team Specialist (CTS)- Security Officer will ensure the safety, security, and smooth operations of the dental clinic. The position requires interacting with staff, patients, and visitors while providing a welcoming and secure environment. The CTS-Security Officer will help foster a sense of safety by maintaining a secure facility and ensuring clinic guidelines are upheld. The role of the Security Officer is to de-escalate tense situations, offer support, and maintain a peaceful atmosphere, ensuring both patients and staff feel safe.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Enforce security procedures as outlined by clinic policies and procedures.
- Greet patients and visitors, ensuring proper sign-in/out at the front desk.
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring the clinic's premises, including the perimeter.
- Escort patients to appointments when requested by clinic staff.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques when interacting with patients exhibiting stress or agitation.
- Ensure the security of patient records and confidential information.
- Assist clinic staff during emergency situations, including fire drills, evacuations, or medical emergencies.
- Document any security or safety incidents and submit reports to the supervisor promptly.
- Respond to security alarms and emergencies, following established protocols.
- Perform regular security checks of the clinic and address any safety concerns with the supervisor.
- Ensure that all clinic doors, windows, and access points are secure at the end of the day.
- Use non-violent restraint methods only as a last resort, when necessary, to ensure safety.
- Assist in maintaining a peaceful environment by building rapport with patients, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Use radios, phones, and other communication devices to coordinate security efforts.
Physical Demands: (Including but not limited to)
- Stand or walk for long periods (up to the entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, carpet).
- Occasionally climb stairs and assist in emergency evacuations.
- Lift or carry up to 50 lbs if necessary.
- Use hands and fingers for administrative tasks such as radio use and report writing.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a security role, ideally in a healthcare or clinic setting.
- Strong ability to communicate with a diverse population.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Experience in maintaining confidential documents.
- Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in stressful situations.
- Working knowledge of basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word and email.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Willingness to assist clinic staff during emergencies and heightened patient situations.
