Position Purpose:
As a Dentist at JWCH, Wesley Wealth Centers, you will provide preventive and primary dental care consistent with the Dentist’s training and experience in a community health clinic setting to patients of the clinic. This role will involve working closely with a multidisciplinary team to improve the oral health of the community while ensuring a high standard of care.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough dental exams, diagnose conditions, and prescribe or administer appropriate treatments in line with clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Perform or oversee procedures such as exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and crowns, and make referrals to specialists as needed.
- Deliver high-quality dental care, addressing patient concerns and developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
- Design and implement community outreach programs to enhance dental health awareness and accessibility.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure records comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Partner with healthcare professionals, including medical staff and social workers, to provide integrated care and support for patients' overall health and well-being.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols and patient confidentiality standards.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques.
- Participate in community events and health fairs to raise awareness of dental health and expand access to care.
- Accurately document all patient interactions and treatments in dental records.
- Complete patient referrals and other required paperwork as needed.
- Travel as necessary to meet operational needs and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Dental Officer to support organizational goals and objectives.
- Continuously update skills and knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and clinic regulations and protocols related to dentistry.
- Oversee Dental Department compliance with infection control and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with support staff, the lead provider, and the Clinic Administrator to achieve efficiency, satisfaction, and productivity goals.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Current and valid dental license in CA.
- 1-2 years of experience in clinical dentistry, preferably in a community health or underserved setting.
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of dental issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Current DEA Certificate.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification from American Heart Association
- Ability to travel from site to site as needed.
- Experience in working with clients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural background.
- Experience with Next-Gen/EDR or Dentrix is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Awardees receive up to $50,000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 14 above (Tier I).
