Job Overview:
Due to Company growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to join our Mega Projects Team in either Syracuse or Albany New York. Applicants must be in the Syracuse area to be considered for this position. The individual will assist managing the day-to-day field safety compliance (OSHA, Contractor Safety Policy, etc.) of our SOW construction activities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Attendance and participation in construction meetings and pre-job safety briefings
- Development, review and/or approval of job hazard assessments (JHAs) of projects specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP)
- Field observations, conducted daily, to ensure all work is in accordance with the Contractor Safety Policy and Work Rules
- Provide weekly summaries of project safety activity, observation data and corrective actions completed or recommended by close of business on Friday for that week
- Identify and document observation of OSHA standards and regulations gaps or opportunities for compliance improvement
- Participation and review of incident investigations
- Required to complete and submit daily field safety observation reports and utilize Safety checks list when available and submit Project Management Group and Safety Department on activities, observation results, focus items and corrective actions
- Observed Safety Compliance issues and corrective actions, that cannot be implemented before leaving a job site, must be reported within the same day. All others are to be included in weekly report.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Must possess valid driver’s license
- Have excellent interpersonal communication skills and technical writing ability
- Must have power utility expereince
- Must have HOP and SIF knowledge
- Must have OSHA training
- Must be in Upstate New York and able to report to the Syracuse or Albany office as needed.
The salary range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licenses and certifications; and other related skillsets. The disclosed range is an estimate and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
Salary : $40 - $52
