THE OPPORTUNITY
KFA is looking for a CAD Manager with a minimum of 12 years of experience to be part of our Team. In this position you will work with a Team of experienced Engineers and Technicians on water, wastewater, transportation, and drainage projects for our Public Sector clients. This position can be based in our Austin, Round Rock, Houston, or San Antonio office.
The primary responsibilities of the CAD Manager include:
- Manage a Team of senior CAD Designers and Technicians
- Manage the incoming queue of projects for CAD execution and plan deliverables with Engineers
- Manage and enhance processes and procedures in CAD production
- Oversee CAD operations, including developing, implementing, and maintaining client CAD standards with emphasis on streamlining CAD design processes to maximize efficiency
- Train CAD Technicians and EITs
- Set-up and review projects for conformance to standards
- Work closely with IT to ensure company hardware and software are updated to allow proper CAD operation
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers and Engineers to provide drafting and design support during planning, design and construction for water, wastewater, roadway, and drainage projects
Requirements:
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate in CAD, Engineering Design, or related field
- Twelve years of experience in civil drafting and plan production
- Five years in a leadership/management role
- Proficiency in current versions of Autodesk Civil 3D AND/OR Bentley MicroStation and Geopak
- Proficiency with both Autodesk and MicroStation is a plus
- Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer is a plus
- Experience with implementation of CAD standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to build relationships with team members
In addition, the successful candidate is highly motivated and will take initiative, demonstrate attention to detail and thoroughness, be able to work well with a team of engineers and technicians and is willing to learn and expand capabilities, including becoming efficient in the multiple platforms the CAD team utilizes.
