We are searching for a Manager, Legal Recruiting - Asset Management & Investment Funds. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of lateral lawyer and law student recruitment for the Asset Management & Investment Funds (AMIF) practice area across all U.S. offices. Primary responsibilities include working with AMIF Practice Area Leaders (PALs) and other practice area management to execute on the practice’s growth strategies through recruiting. This includes management of lateral lawyer recruiting efforts, coordination of lawyer on-boarding and orientation, and student education, outreach, and hiring for the AMIF practice area. Key responsibilities include: communicating with and marketing the practice to candidates, prospective candidates and legal search firms; collaborating with legal search firms; and regularly updating AMIF leaders on market intelligence and trends.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with PALs, Office Managing Partners (OMP), AMIF’s Director of Practice Operations and others to strategically identify hiring needs for AMIF lateral lawyers for Firm’s U.S. offices, and coordinate with global team members for international offices’ AMIF recruitment as needed
  • Develop relationships and maintain regular contact with legal search firms focused in Asset Management and Investment Funds hiring
  • Conduct market research on student recruiting hiring trends and collaborate with internal People Team departments (Benefits, Compensation, etc.) as needed; provide regular updates to AMIF leadership and Legal Recruiting team on trends impacting AMIF student recruiting
  • Manage development of internal data-driven student recruiting strategies, such as collecting and analyzing historical information about applications, interviews and offers to inform future law school outreach plans
  • Manage advertising of open positions and provide regular updates to search firms on practice’s needs
  • Communicate on status and strategic direction of open positions with key leaders involved with active AMIF lateral searches, and assist leaders with hiring decisions
  • Review resumes received from candidates and legal search firms and, in collaboration with PALs, select candidates to move forward in the interview process; actively manage related follow-up tracking and communication
  • Facilitate decision-making process and conduct follow-up with candidates and/or legal search firms
  • Manage orientation, on-boarding and new hire integration of all lateral associate new hires for AMIF practice area
  • Work with leaders to recruit otherpractice hires such as Practice Support Lawyers, Attorney Specialists, paralegals, etc.

Education and Experience:


  • 4-year, accredited college degree (required)
  • A minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience (required) preferably in a law firm or law school environment; experience with Asset Management and Investment Funds recruiting preferred

  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment, a professional and friendly demeanor, confidentiality, and strong professional and ethical standards. Must be highly motivated, creative, flexible, results-oriented and possess the ability to work independently under pressure with demanding deadlines.
  • Must work well with all levels of firm personnel and must be able to establish effective working relationships throughout the firm.
  • Must possess strong organizational, administrative and word processing skills.
  • Must have proven working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be proficient with applicant data tracking software, preferably PeopleSoft Recruit Workforce.

Physical and Mental Demands:


  • Must be able to deal with stress associated with a fast paced work environment, including handling multiple tasks on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to make judgment decisions and handle daily, routine responsibilities.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work situations and grasp and apply new ideas.
  • Must be able to communicate with various personalities at all levels of management and staff.
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule that will frequently require long hours and periodically weekend work.

Working Conditions:


  • Desk type position which requires a combination of sedentary and standing activities.
  • Daily use of personal computer and associated software systems.

Salary: $90,000 - $165,000

The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
