JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Design Engineer I position develops and improves products or designs through a process of conceptualizing, developing prototypes, testing, and implementation to manufacturing to customer specifications. Work may include creation of previously non-existent products or modification of existing products, including line extensions. This position works closely with more senior engineers to use established procedures to complete tasks with detailed instruction.
Essential Functions
1. Designs product to meet all requirements
2. Manages multiple projects at one time
3. Produces drawings, assists in prototyping, manufacturing, quality, and planning as required.
4. Acts as technical expert for the company for both customers and employees

Required Education and Experience
1. B.S. degree in Engineering or Design
2. Strong mechanical design aptitude
3. Strong literacy with Microsoft Office Suite
4. Interpersonal and mechanical aptitude necessary to deal effectively with a variety of departments
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Pro/E modeling and detailing experience
2. Familiar with current GD&T standards
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
