Junior Staff Accountant

Job Summary: The Junior Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for all business transactions with journal entries, updating financial statements, preparing monthly financial reports, calculating payroll taxes, and auditing and maintaining Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Essential Job Functions:

·        Analyze invoices and ensure we account for the expense correctly.

·        Data Entry.

·        Ledger Entries.

·        Analyze monthly expense accounts.

·        Maintain asset and liability reconciliations and balance general ledger accounts.

·        Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances.

·        Communicate with the management team regarding monthly financial operating results.

·        Communicate with outside vendors about payment statuses and filing needs.

·        Assist the entire Accounting team by analyzing income statements.

·        Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

·        Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.

·        Prepare and file monthly returns for various state and local authorities.

·        Prepare and maintain license renewals in a timely manner.

·        Assist with other projects, as necessary.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

·        High school graduate supplemented by a four-year college degree and/or accounting experience.

·        Advanced knowledge of debit and credit bookkeeping principles.

·        Ability to type with speed and accuracy.

·        Ability to assign work, recognize work related needs and make recommendations to pursue their successful conclusion.

·        Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality.

·        Ability to follow instructions.

·        Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.

·        Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties.
