Business Summary: K2 Construction is a team of Underwriters who provide primary general liability, supported excess and unsupported excess coverage options for construction risks. K2 Construction underwrites risks to ensure appetite, proper risk selection, selects pricing and binds business for various insurance carriers. The unit handles all aspects of the business handling from submission intake, endorsement processing, quote and binder issuance and audits.

Position Description:
The Owners business unit at K2 focuses on commercial property owners who require GL insurance for construction or renovation of their property. An Underwriter works as a member of the production staff tasked to build our construction portfolio as well as manage the renewal book. The individual will work alongside our leadership team to help develop and maintain a book of business that sustains profitability while striving for continued growth. The individual will be charged with being part of the Owners unit team to quote, bind and service business.
Position Roles/Responsibilities
- Review submissions to validate based upon UW guidelines and delegated authority
- Handle renewals to ensure risks remain with in appetite with appropriate pricing
- Interact in-person, via email and by phone with brokers to obtain further risk-specific details, negotiate terms, pricing and explain company position on the space
- Quote and bind primary and excess business as per UW appetite/authority
- Oversee and approve endorsement requests
- Build relationship and effectively grow to subset of agents within the delegated assignment
- Oversee and analyze and loss control or premium audit disputes that arise
- Assign and manage premium audit transactions
- Other duties as assigned
Position Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or seven to ten years of related insurance experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of construction underwriting experience with authority
- Ability to balance multiple inquiries and competing demands
- Strong written and oral communication
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Desire and willingness to learn on a high-performance team
