Project Estimator is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like local labor, materials, budgets and potential setbacks or weather ramifications. Their duties include communicating with internal and external personnel and vendors, using computer software to weigh production costs, risks, and timeframe, compile reports and make a comprehensive presentation to Management outlining their analysis or suggestions detailing financial requirements for completing an upcoming project.
- Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, specifications and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
- Preparing material and labor cost estimates for the product or service
- Creating labor estimates for any project, based on the geographic location and labor requirements
- Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Using bid data to prepare a detailed pre-bid cost analysis, including profit and overhead.
- Managing bids from vendors and contractors to prepare and recommend our final bid for the project
- Presenting prepared final estimates to management and other stakeholders or partners based on actual bids received
- Analyzing and compiling historical actual costs
- Responsibility for the company profit for any specific project after all costs are incorporated
- Working with the Construction department after project turnover, to go over details, and qualifying suggested contractors and suppliers
Computer skills required:
- MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Project, Teams and Outlook
- RS Means data site
- Bluebeam takeoffs
- On-screen takeoff
- Procore Technologies Project Management program
- AutoCAD experience a plus
- Filing of bids and insuring that plans are updated for internal use
Inter-personal skills required:
- Ability to effectively communicate via email and/or video meetings
- The position is a remote home-based position. Self-Management and motivation is a must.

- Outgoing, amicable personality, ability to interact with all departments
- Time management, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
