GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for managing the evaluation, selection, development, and support of all software and information systems utilized by the District.  Directing district software support and development services; serving as a resource for district leadership in the use of software; providing information and data reports from information systems; supporting and implementing district information security practices.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with district leaders providing high quality support in the development and implementation of software.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of all software utilized within the District meeting district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Coordinate and support the district’s data reporting requirements in support of district, state, and federal reporting mandates and requirements.
  • Develop liaisons with business sources and school support groups subsidizing the acquisition of new technology by soliciting and obtaining funding, hardware, software, expertise and/or community support.
  • Direct department operations; the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes providing services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other district staff.
  • Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities ensuring accurate allocations, revenues recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or adherence to fiscal practices.
  • Perform personnel administrative functions maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program efficiency.
  • Prepare a wide variety of reference, presentation, policy and administrative materials documenting activities, requests and issues; providing audit references, and/or meeting compliance.
  • Present information on a variety of topics related to administrative responsibilities providing general information, training others, implementing actions, etc.
  • Provide leadership and technical support designing, developing, and maintaining an efficient, unified, and fully integrated information ecosystem.
  • Research topics related to current and emerging technology developing new programs/services, ensuring program compliance with established requirements, securing general information and/or responding to requests.
  • Respond to issues involving staff, conflicts in policies and regulations, community concerns, parental requests that may result in some negative impact and/or liability if not appropriately addressed identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will efficiently resolve the issue.
  • Serve as liaison to software providers conveying and/or receiving information and coordinating district activities.
  • Support the Superintendent, Cabinet, and oversight of department administrators developing and implementing information system services and programs and achieving operational goals.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

  • Preferred – Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) and/or MBA.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.

  • Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; program planning and development; school budgeting, policies and audit procedures; concepts of grammar and punctuation; principles of governmental and fund accounting and budgeting.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions.

  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance. 
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: feeling, hearing, manual dexterity, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
