Designer - Healthcare
Kahler Slater is looking for a Designer who has a passion for design and demonstrated expertise in planning and design of Healthcare facilities.
Our ideal Designer for Healthcare is a design-forward, technically savvy problem solver with a passion for creating healthcare environments that address our clients’ business needs and provide outstanding patient and care-provider experience. As a designer, you have knowledge about healthcare facility design including contemporary planning concepts, construction techniques, technologies, and materials.
You will work with a team that is aligned with our open and flexible culture that encourages individual initiative and collaboration. You will build trusting relationships within the team and across Kahler Slater.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities for the Designer - Healthcare:
Project Development
- Assists in leading the planning and design phases of significant healthcare projects, generating, and translating design concepts into final architectural solutions
- Support Project Leader in project management tasks, focusing on design-related content
Leadership
- Direct and manage the internal and external design team from initial planning through construction administration
- Inspire, motivate, and lead project team in client service, design approach, and project delivery
- Establish an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and design creativity
- Contribute to a high level of energy and enthusiasm in the firm, and foster a spirit of collaborative problem solving and design excellence
- Represents the team with multiple Healthcare clients, industry partners, contractors, consultants, and public authorities
Business Development
- Support team marketing and business development efforts which could include interviews, project pursuits, networking events, and thought leadership
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of a Designer – Healthcare:
- 4 – 8 years as a design professional with experience and passion in healthcare markets
- Professional degree in Architecture
- Registered Architect preferred
- 3 years of Revit production experience, and proficiency utilizing Revit
- Successful team-orientation and collaboration behaviors
- Diligence in seeking solutions to complex problems
- Strong communications skills, spoken, written, and graphic
- Focuses on collaboration and cooperation with others, demonstrating design leadership
- Efficiently responds to client needs
- Able to coach and be coachable
- Able to work effectively under pressure and within restrictive time deadlines and budget parameters while maintaining focus, positive attitude
Working Relationships and Scope for the Senior Designer - Healthcare:
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team Leaders
- Collaborate with other design and project team members
- Represents the firm in alignment with Kahler Slater’s core values
- Mentor junior staff members
Working conditions for Designer – Healthcare:
Work is performed in a professional, collaborative, creative, office and hybrid environment. Great flexibility in your schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines. Occasional overnight travel is expected as it relates to serving clients and professional development.
