Accounting Director
Kairoi Residential is a multifamily investment, development and property management company headquartered in San Antonio. Since 2003, the partnership has transacted on $4.3 billion across 50,000 multifamily units in many cities and states around the country. We are seeking a candidate who will lead all aspects of the accounting process for our Investment, Development, and Property Management lines of business.
Job Duties:
- Lead and direct a team of accountants in preparing accurate and timely financials for multi-family properties on behalf of our clients
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting process including accounts payable, cash management, general ledger, financial systems, and workflows
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Review and approve journal entries, payments, and financial statements
- Oversee and perform cash management and treasury management functions
- Oversee reserve replacement and other financial draw processes
- Review the accounting related to all acquisitions and dispositions of properties
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
- Support budget and forecasting activities
- Work with the Director of External Reporting to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
- Review and communicate on the financial performance of properties under management
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain a documented system of controls over accounting transactions
- Oversee the financial systems used in the financial reporting process and ensure we are leveraging technology to the fullest extent possible
- Responds to inquiries from Executives, Asset Managers, Clients, Site Teams, and other Departments
- Work in coordination with other departments to ensure we are delivering best-in-class service to our communities, our employees, our business partners, and our clients
- Oversee training to new and existing staff as needed
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
- Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
- Support Leaders with special projects and workflow process improvements
Position Requirements
- 5 years of Accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven track-record of developing and motivating teams
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow through on tasks until completed
- Proficient in Excel and Word
Preferred Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or qualified candidate
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA)
- Big 4 experience
- Experience in the Real Estate industry
- Experience using OneSite Accounting, MRI, and/or Yardi
