What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Nurse Consultant, National Risk & Safety position at Kaiser Permanente?
Provides consultation, leadership and education to national and regional quality leaders, on matters related to quality oversight, accreditation, performance measurement and/or quality improvement. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to the National and Regional Leadership teams and functions, Permanente Medical Group, and labor management partners. Plans, organizes, and directs the operation of quality programs and execution strategy for strategic initiatives as identified by the leadership of the National Health Plan and Hospital Quality Division and Regional Leadership teams. Provides quality, performance improvement and consulting leadership to projects and initiatives, using the Clinical Quality Strategy, thereby supporting KP in achieving its performance targets. Represents Quality and Patient Safety perspectives and activities on an organizational level, synthesizing a variety of results and initiatives and guiding collaborative efforts toward effective quality plan development. Applies professional Quality and Performance Improvement theories in facilitating diverse groups, delivering public presentations and providing work team leadership.

- Minimum ten (10) years of directly related experience.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
License, Certification, Registration
- Current Registered Nurse license.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work as a consultant, facilitator, and colleague with other Quality Leadership and Management staff, physicians and KP staff at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge and/or experience with accreditation standards, and state and federal regulations.
- Advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices and systems.
- Ability to develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Ability to develop new programs based on professional principles and theories.
- Viewed as functional expert in field within KP.
- Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts.
- Ability to contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
- Certification in related field (i.e., CPHQ, CPPS, CPHRM) or obtain within a year of hire.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of combined experience in quality, risk management, patient safety, infection prevention, accreditation/regulation, licensing or operational clinical leadership in a healthcare setting.
- Master's degree in a directly related field preferred
- Quality/ Risk/Patient Safety/Just Culture/Project Management/Lean/IP certification
- Involvement with self-governed work teams, abstraction and interpretation of performance data, or demonstrated use of CQI tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of statistics, change management and systems theory and organizational behavior.

Salary : $114,000 - $145,000
