Job Description
General Description:
This position is responsible for the Radiation Safety Program and operational support of inspection activities for Kakivik Asset Management with locations in Port Arthur, TX; Tioga, ND and Alaska.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Interact with State and Federal agencies and local law enforcement agencies regarding Radiation Safety.
  • Establish and oversee all operating, emergency and ALARA procedures as required by 10 CFR part 20.
  • Regularly review procedures to ensure conformance to current CFRs, DOT, NRC regulations and license conditions.
  • Develop and conduct Radiation Safety training for radiographic personnel.
  • Ensure that operations are conducted safely and institute corrective actions when necessary.
  • Responsible for all associated paper work, supervision of radiographers and assistant radiographers, conducting radiation safety meetings, annual and quarterly audits of all field locations, conducting semi annual field inspections of radiation safety personnel.
  • Ensure that radiation safety activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for all aspects of 10 CFR part 34, §34.42
  • Provide operational support for the planning and oversight of inspection projects including personnel scheduling, equipment staging & logistics, field level oversight and client satisfaction interaction.
  • Support global radiation safety & inspection activities throughout international business units to include short term international travel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge in all aspects of industrial radiography and radiation safety. Thorough understanding of pertinent State and Federal regulations as they pertain to use of radiation producing equipment.
  • Experience in the construction of online training modules using iSpring Suites or equivalent is preferred
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting.

Work Environment:
Work involves near continuous use of computer terminal, may require sitting for extended periods and periodic travel to field locations. Some overtime may be required.
Willing to up to travel 25-30% of the time.
Initial employment period will require 3 – 4 weeks in Anchorage, Alaska.

Physical Requirements:
May require light physical effort such as stooping, bending, reaching and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds).
The overall physical health of the Individual should be well enough to allow them to:

  • Lift 65 pounds from ground level to chest height.
  • Work and walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Climb ladders to pipe rack heights.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2,000 hours of hands-on experience in industrial gamma radiography.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of hands-on in industrial x-ray experience with a “Both” endorsement to their IRRSP or equivalent
  • Formal training in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation safety program.
  • Current Radiographer certification issued by an independent entity.
  • RSO and Source retrieval training certificate
  • Must meet requirements of 10 CFR Part 34, §34.43(a).
  • A minimum high school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASNT RT Level 3.
  • Technical Associates Degree.
