Summary:

Join the KRESA Career Connect team and be a part of shaping the future of career and technical education! We're seeking passionate individuals with expertise in culinary arts to help develop cutting-edge curriculum, forge strong industry partnerships, and prepare students for successful careers. Previous teaching/training experience is welcomed, but not required.

As part of our team, you'll collaborate with fellow instructors and industry experts to launch the brand-new, state-of-the-art Career Connect Campus opening in August 2025. This facility will be a beacon of innovation, providing students with hands-on learning experiences that mirror real-world work environments.

At the Career Connect Campus, you'll serve as an instructor and have the opportunity to deepen your instructional skills through ongoing professional development while preparing students for local career opportunities. Join us in creating a world-class educational environment where students can thrive and build pathways to meaningful careers!

Pathway Leads will be hired in the following areas:

  • Automotive Service and Repair

  • Industrial Design

Job Responsibilities prior to Campus opening:

  • Craft innovative instructional strategies, content, and assessment methods tailored to pathway curriculum standards and industry-recognized credentials.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive Career Pathway Planning tool to empower graduating students.
  • Work closely with the 21st Century Skills project team to shape curriculum and credentialing initiatives.
  • Partner with the Career Connect team and industry leaders to procure and prepare state-of-the-art equipment specific to each career field.
  • Foster interdisciplinary learning by designing cross-program projects that expose students to diverse career pathways.
  • Play an integral role in recruitment efforts, summer campus programs, and promotional campaigns.
  • Drive the expansion of work-based learning opportunities in collaboration with the dedicated work-based learning team.
  • Delve into project-based and competency-based learning methodologies to support the instructional team in campus-wide implementation.
  • Create engaging lessons and instructional units that leverage the Career Connect Campus as a dynamic learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Career Connect team on multifaceted projects leading up to the grand opening of the Career Connect Campus.

Job Responsibilities after Campus opening:

  • Develop and deliver dynamic career and technical education curriculum aligned with essential learning objectives, employing a blend of best practices and cutting-edge technologies to optimize instructional delivery.
  • Incorporate real-life experiences, external experts, and industry resources into instruction to enrich student learning experiences.
  • Equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully attain industry-recognized credentials through thorough preparation for credential assessments.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment characterized by inclusivity, respect, and mutual support, ensuring that all students feel valued and empowered to excel.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to KRESA's anti-bias, anti-racism (ABAR) principles by actively promoting equitable opportunities, fostering inclusive program representation, and providing comprehensive support for all students.
  • Engage in an instructional coaching program aimed at continual professional development and enhancement, with a specific focus on implementing anti-bias and anti-racism practices.
  • Design assessments that effectively measure teaching and learning effectiveness while monitoring student progress and growth.
  • Continue as lead within the designated pathway, serving as a primary point of contact and driving force behind its continued growth and success.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative partnerships with local industry professionals, actively participating in annual advisory committee meetings to align curriculum with industry needs.
  • Fulfill all necessary documentation requirements mandated by the Michigan Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education.
  • Establish clear and consistent communication channels with students, parents/guardians, KRESA CTE staff, school counselors, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance to uphold instructional consistency and reliability.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must qualify for Annual Career Authorization which includes having two years (4,000 hours) of current, industry-related experience in the last ten years.

OR

  • Must hold State Secondary Provisional Certification with the CIP code endorsement appropriate to CTE courses in the pathways listed above.

Certificates, License, Registration:

Valid Driver’s License required.

Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
School environment where there may be physical discomfort due to temperature, dust or the like, depending on location of CTE program (i.e., computer lab vs. auto shop). Noise level in this environment may be moderate to loud. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
