Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer Specialist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Reporting to the Sr. Team Leader, the Programming Specialist provides programming support to the Manufacturing Operations team, ensure all programs are created using established standards for machining of specific value stream products, and maintains programs in a manner that safeguards the integrity of the established standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- As the Programmer Specialist you will create accurate CNC programs, using applicable tools, which support cell manufacturing techniques and standards. Assist cell leadership in the troubleshooting of machining issues and offer advice on best machining practices.
- Develop programs that reflect known standards and communicate with cell leadership when changes to the standard should be considered. Safeguard the integrity of the programs and instill program stability confidence in the operators, in support of the cell’s “load-and-go” efforts.
- Assist cell leadership and cell operators with effort to reduce setup times and increase productivity and efficiencies.
- Communicate with OPT Production Engineer, on a regular basis, ensuring that they are aware of current standards and that they are informed of CNC number assignments in a timely manner.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
- Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area.
- Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in training/learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate degree in Machining Technology or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience:
3-5 years of manufacturing/programming/machine shop experience. Proficiency with computer aided manufacturing programs is essential.
Gibbs and Unigraphics experience required
Knowledge Essential to the Position:
- CNC Programming

Physical Demands:
- Frequent (70-80%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent mental and visual attention

- Will be required to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs
