Job description

Starch's responsibilities include:

· Mixing all starch for the Corrugator keeping tank levels at the appropriate levels throughout the workweek.

· Checking the viscosity and gel temp after each batch.

· Preparing borax for each batch and put carrier starch in the mixer at the proper time.

· Keeping the Hopper full of starch.

· Change the tote of caustic when necessary.

· Keep starch area clean.

Boiler responsibilities include:

· Start-up boiler in the morning and shut-down in the afternoon.

· Check any alarms and contact maintenance as necessary.

· Assure proper size and grade of paper is brought to the machine.

· Assure proper footage is brought to the machine.

Roll Stock / Clamp Truck responsibilities include:

· Pulling paper from warehouse and supplying to corrugator as needed.

· Keeping track of butt rolls.

· Consuming roll stock.

· Pulling monthly roll stock inventory.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assists other employees as necessary.
  • Comply with the safety guidelines and safety rules provided by the company as well as exercise common sense and good judgment in performance of duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to deal with other employees and management in a courteous, tactful and patient manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate Clamp Truck and Forklift.
  • Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of the boiler and other equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand scheduling sheets.
  • Ability to read and understand a tape measure.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred;
  • Previous related experience required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prompt and regular attendance.
  • Comply with proper and seasonal dress code.
  • Exercise proper safety precautions.
  • Certified on Clamp Truck and Forklift.
  • Boiler training required.

· Love or Stienhall Cup for viscosity measurement

· Thermometer

· Utility knife

· Scale

· Gel temp equipment / bottle warmer

· Clamp Truck

· Forklift

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and push several thousand pounds of roll stock. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and color vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Works under the supervision of the Corrugator Supervisor.

SELECTION GUIDELINES:

Formal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check; drug test; job related tests may be required.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
