Job Title: Guest Experience Coordinator-Weekend
Work Schedule: Saturday 8:30a-5:30p; Sunday 11:30a - 5:30p (rotating weekends)
Classification: Part-time, non-exempt
Pay Scale: $17-$20 hourly
Supervisor: Director of Guest Services

Description:
The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in Topeka, Kansas is looking for a friendly and organized multi-tasker to join our museum team. The Hospitality Coordinators are responsible for supporting an environment that inspires discovery and joy for the thousands of children and former children who visit the museum from all over the world.

Guest Experience Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that every guest enjoys an exceptional and engaging experience when visiting the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. There are full time and part time positions available. The weekend Guest Experience Coordinator is part time, Saturday (8:30am - 5:30pm) & Sunday (11:30am - 5:30pm) and will rotate weekends with other Guest Experience Coordinators.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading a diverse staff and ensure the delivery of superior guest experience throughout the Museum from open to close.
  • Individually interact with Guests to meet their needs and to learn how to improve the experience the museum offers in the future.
  • Ensure daily operations (daily safety & preparation checklists, appropriate supply stock) are performed by Guest-facing staff.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and Guests by overseeing the daily operation of exhibits, including daily verification of safety checklists, including cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the hours of operation.
  • Address and communicate regarding issues that arise from Guest concerns.
  • Communicate the condition of the Museum and its exhibits to appropriate staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Follow all internal protocols for opening and closing the museum, including some rentals and special events. Including, but not limited to, cash-handling procedures, daily verification of floor staffing and supplies.
  • Ensure all exhibits (indoor and outdoor) and all guest-facing areas, including facilities, are clean and reset, appropriately stocked, functioning correctly, and safe;
  • Oversee rotations of thematic exhibits;
  • Oversee coordination of volunteers;
  • Assist with the coordination of birthday parties and facility rentals;
  • Assist with access programming;
  • Facilitate hands-on programming;
  • Assist with all aspects of traveling exhibitions;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous management experience in retail, hospitality, museum or other service industry.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task as necessary.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound decision making.
  • Dependable and consistent.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Proven experience in and passion for guest experience and operations.

Position Conditions:

  • Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk and move for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors while presenting a positive guest experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, crawl, kneel, lift/hold, twist, for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 18 per week

Shift:

  • 8 hour shift
