Basic Information
• Reports to Information and Reference Services Manager
• 20 hours/week
• Wage: $19.51 per hour
• There will be hours worked in both the Information and Reference Services department and the Central Technology Center.
• Position open until filled
Duties
• Provides reference, information, community referral and electronic assistance with unique attention paid to patrons' diverse needs.
• Provides responses to reference queries in person, on the telephone, and on-line.
• Assists customers in the use of online resources.
• Recommends and retrieves materials in support of customer requests.
• Assists customers in their use of library computers, copying machines and printers, making adjustments, and calls for service when necessary.
Requirements
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working collaboratively with others
• Ability to learn the use of varied reference sources, including electronic sources
• Excellent customer service skills with an interest in, comfort with, and a genuine desire to serve and engage with people of all abilities and backgrounds.
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to help our customers with technology and device troubleshooting
• The ability to speak and understand English is required. Additional consideration may be given to individuals that are fluent in any non-English languages spoken in the Kansas City area including Somali, Swahili, Spanish, Arabic, French, Dari, Pashto, and Vietnamese.
• Minimum Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience. This qualification can also be met by an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and life experiences.

Mon 3pm – 7pm
Tue 3pm – 7pm
Wed 3pm – 7pm
Sat 9am – 1pm
Sun 1pm-5pm
