Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks an orthodontist as full-time or part-time, clinical faculty for our new dental school in Joplin, Missouri. The faculty member will be responsible for the development of the didactic, pre-clinical and clinical orthodontic protocols and procedures, integrating evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care as well as guiding current research and scholarly activity in orthodontic therapy. The faculty member will collaborate with, and educate the dental Group Practice Leaders, Assistant Group Practice Leaders, simulation faculty, and clinical faculty in the current science of orthodontics for patient care.

The faculty member will collaborate with, and educate the dental Group Practice Leaders, Assistant Group Practice Leaders, simulation faculty, and clinical faculty in the current science of orthodontics for patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Candidates must demonstrate a passion for dentistry and the application of orthodontic therapy didactic principles to preclinical and clinical patient care, a strong desire to teach students in a demanding, fast-paced, academic environment
- Develop goals, objectives and policies for the orthodontic dental education program within the KCU College of Dental Medicine
- Implement and deliver the orthodontic didactic curriculum including pre-clinical materials, simulation and laboratory exercises
- Integrate evidence-based best practices with clinical patient care and guide current research and scholarly activity in orthodontic therapy
- Assure the safe and effective delivery of orthodontic dental care by the dental students
- Deliver clinical orthodontic treatment for patients as needed in the Oral Health Center
- Serve as an advisor, coach and/or mentor to dental students expressing a desire for advanced education in orthodontics
- Mentor dental student research in the area of orthodontics when applicable
- Serve as faculty advisor for community-based activities in the realm of orthodontics
- Conduct summative and formative pre-clinical and clinical student assessment in orthodontic therapy
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or Dean
- Certificate of completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education Program in orthodontics
- Current Missouri dental license or have an active dental license in a US state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
- Must be board-certified or board-eligible in orthodontics
- A strong desire to improve the oral and overall health for patients in the region through collaboration with other primary care professionals is encouraged
