The Staff Accountant maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work, thorough review of financial records, and forecasting. Reporting to the Finance Manager (FM), the role is pivotal in the efficient provision of services to Kacmarcik Enterprises.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the FM with day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting & Finance needs of the business. Achieve a 4-business day monthly close & financial distribution
- Coordinating with the accounts payable & accounts receivable teams to proper recording of invoices, reimbursements, cash receipts, revenue and receivables
- Prepare and file tax returns and support accounting firm with PBC (Prepared by Client) tax requests
- Perform the processing of functional and benefit expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, as necessary
- Support CAPEX generation
- Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports
- Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer benefits costs, accruals and prepaid expenses
- Organize and update financial records including preparation of financial statements and budgets
- Prepare documents for external parties
- Provide accounting support to all relevant areas as well as leadership to ensure it is appropriately resourced
- Pro-actively seeking on-going improvements and efficiencies in all activities, focusing on reducing costs and improving efficiency
- Providing ad hoc reporting and analysis of related transactions as required
- Assist in any other business support initiatives as directed by the CFO and executive leadership team

Qualifications
Enabling Skills:
- University Degree
- At least 2-years' experience in accounting or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint operation
- Experience with accounting software and data entry
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports
- Understanding of accounting rules and procedures including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical skills
