The Role
Kasa is searching for a remote Payroll Manager to join our cutting-edge Finance & Accounting team. In this position, you will help build Kasa's global brand by ensuring that our fellow team members are paid accurately and on time while staying on top of compliance requirements in multiple jurisdictions and processing our semi-monthly payroll reports. The role requires exceptional organizational skills and efficient administrative capabilities.

In this role, you will report to the Director of Finance and work in a cross-functional manner with others at Kasa. You will play a critical role in building a market-leading, financial reporting department to service Kasa's rapid growth across multiple asset classes and geographies. About the Team
Kasa is building an efficient and effective Finance team to ensure best-in-class financial reporting and guest satisfaction. You will join a team with diverse backgrounds in hospitality, real estate and private equity. The team focuses on building scalable processes by being resourceful and having a growth mindset. This remote role will be the fourth hire on the accounting team, allowing for upward mobility within a fast-growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Own and process payroll, including tax changes, direct deposits, loan repayments, deductions, retroactive adjustments, prorated payments, bonuses, fringe benefits, special pays, etc.
- Register new state/local/SUI tax withholding account with local tax agencies
- Responsible for Washington and Ohio worker compensation insurance on an annual and quarterly basis
- Work closely with the People Ops team to ensure timely response to questions and requests that have been processed
- Ensure compliance with all compensation and tax regulations
- Responsible for quarterly tax reconciliations for federal, state, and local
- Responsible for managing Family leave and Medical leave for states
- Responsible for month-end reports
- Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
- Report to management on payroll issues and changes
- Stay current on state, federal, and local payroll and tax laws
- Support year-end reporting tasks
- Work with payroll provider to provide the People Ops Team with best practice and advice on all payroll-related matters
- Ensure General Ledger posting accurately reflects monthly payroll and assists with balance sheet reconciliation queries
- Identify process improvements to ensure payroll meets its performance requirements in an efficient manner
- Assist with year-end requests from payroll providers and internal teams
Experience
- 3-5 years of end-to-end payroll processing in a high growth environment
- Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate and establish relationships cross-functionally
- Excellent attention to detail and strong time-management skills
- You're highly motivated and able to maintain efficiency while working independently
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations
- You're proactive by nature and can act decisively when needed
- Youβre a team player who is committed to uplifting your coworkers and the company
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, ADP Workforce Now
Plus if...
- You have experience with international payroll
- You have prior experience submitting transient occupancy or sales tax returns
- You have accounting experience or are proficient in Netsuite
- You've worked remotely at some point in your career
