Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):
Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must have experience with installation of electrical related TCTO/wiring modifications installations including wiring harness installation/repair. Airframes and Powerplants (A&P) certification with three or more years of experience is desired but not required.
- An Avionics technician with extensive experience with wiring harness trouble shooting/replacement is an acceptable alternative to an Aircraft Electrician. Experience utilizing detailed blueprints/instructions desired.
Skills and Knowledge: The Contractor shall be able to provide electrical maintenance support for the USAF T-6A Texan trainer aircraft.
- Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, Air Force aviation maintenance programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
- Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
- Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
- Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
- Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
Task Requirements:
- Perform Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) 1T-6A-876 to install Automatic Backup Oxygen System (ABOS).
- Perform maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
- Corrosion control
- Technical Directive compliance and modifications
- Tool control and upkeep
- Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention
- Use Personal Protective Equipment as appropriate for task(s)
- Use HAZMAT as appropriate for task(s)
- Perform general housekeeping
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Seven or more years’ experience in aircraft electrical maintenance
- Four or more years’ maintenance experience on T6 aircraft
- FAA Airframe and Power Plant license
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have experience with installation of electrical related TCTO/wiring modifications installations including wiring harness installation/repair. Airframes and Powerplants (A&P) certification with three or more years of experience is desired but not required.
- An Avionics technician with extensive experience with wiring harness trouble shooting/replacement is an acceptable alternative to an Aircraft Electrician. Experience utilizing detailed blueprints/instructions desired.
- Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift schedule if required.
- Must be able work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F or as required.
- Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to obtain favorable National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI).
- Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
Compensation
$32.86/hour
Other Compensation
Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour worked.
