Who You Are
Implements health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines for the employee and department safety. Creates incident reports and performs inspections to ensure conformity in all areas of HSE. Interacts with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to research and interpret standards, codes and regulations. Determines requisite for and organizes audits of company operated properties. Keeps informed of regulatory requirements and auditing standards. Assists in development and implementation of systems and standards to facilitate the capturing and analysis of HSE statistics. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem solving skills to develop and improve processes. May provide guidance to less experienced team members.
This role will be located in Chantilly, VA, and will be expected to travel between our facilities in Chantilly and Springfield, VA. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.
This is a continent position based on contract award
What You’ll Do
As a ESH Specialist, you will:
Implement HSE Policies: Implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure employee and departmental safety.
Create Incident Reports: Prepare detailed incident reports following any accidents or violations, analyzing what occurred and suggesting preventive measures.
Perform Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of all areas to ensure conformity with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Interact with Stakeholders: Communicate with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to research and interpret standards, codes, and regulations.
Organize Audits: Determine the need for audits and organize them for company-operated properties to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with regulatory requirements and auditing standards relevant to the industry.
Develop HSE Systems: Assist in the development and implementation of systems and standards that facilitate the capturing and analysis of HSE statistics.
Solve Complex Problems: Utilize detailed knowledge of the field and industry best practices to solve complex problems and develop improved processes.
Guide Team Members: Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members in understanding and implementing HSE procedures.
Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update health, safety, and environmental procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring all practices meet current regulatory standards and company goals.

Qualifications:
Completion of an undergraduate degree and 5 years of experience of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, including direct experience in developing and implementing HSE policies and conducting audits.
Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE regulations and the ability to interpret and apply these regulations effectively.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data and statistics related to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports, presenting safety training, and interacting with regulatory bodies.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Physical Requirements: Depending on the sector, there may be physical demands such as walking extensive distances on inspection rounds.
At least one nationally recognized certification. Such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CEP, PE
Clearance:
Must possess an active U.S Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility required. Willingness to take a polygraph and upgrade clearance as required.
