Roles, Responsibilities, Accountability, and Authority
- Reports to the Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, and Construction (FEMC) Director
- Leads KBR USAP facilities maintenance supervisors in managing >
100 trades, administration, and engineering personnel in preventive / corrective maintenance programs, including : Act as Control Account Supervisor (CAM) to oversee budgeting and scheduling for Antarctic Facilities Maintenance personnel and procurements
- Inform USAP contract and NSF leadership of facilities maintenance considerations and work with USAP leadership to create meaningful metrics and key performance indicators (KPI)
- Lead Antarctic Facilities Maintenance team in meeting and surpassing metrics and KPI’s, using Maximo work order systems and other tools
- Liaise with Human Resources and Facilities Management teams to support a healthy culture and safe work environment
- Support USAP Emergency Management by leading Facilities Team in emergency response and representing Facilities at Emergency Operations Center (EOC) events.
- Lead facilities maintenance teams in fostering a USAP-wide culture of safety and adopting the KBR Zero Harm culture
- Provide transition support for all maintenance aspects during the 6-month transition from Leidos to KBR, including an as is assessment and recommendations.
- Investigate implementing a predictive maintenance program to complement the preventive / corrective maintenance program.
Duties and Responsibilities
The FMS Supervisor leads a team of professionals that provides and directs facility maintenance services for existing and new KBR USAP contract infrastructure.
The FMS and the FMS team provide professional services, maintenance, repairs, and emergency responses to facility infrastructure.
The FMS Supervisor contributes to the KBR USAP Annual Program Plan (APP).
The FMS Supervisor leads the management activity that meets all KBR USAP contract obligations in a manner that exceeds NSF needs and expectations.
This includes expediting maintenance requests as required.
Ensures that all FM activities are performed in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and codes imposed by the Antarctic Treaty and the U.S. Government.
The FMS Supervisor Assembles and leads an organization of managers and individual contributors that provide superior technical and customer services through :
- Identifying, hiring, and developing team members, ensuring positions requiring proper licenses and / or certifications, do so.
- Evaluating the performance of the FMS team after each assignment.
- Identifying training needs and ensuring the development and implementation of appropriate training programs for FMS personnel, including specialized off-site training for specific tasks such as Asbestos Mitigation or Fuel Oil Combustion Appliance certification.
- Evaluating employee performance following personnel performance reviews.
- Developing and affecting a succession plan for key subordinates / key positions.
The authors provided detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports describing FMS activity, initiatives, accomplishments, and improvement, providing these after-action reports to the FECM Director and NSF in a timely manner.
This Supervisor is accountable for ensuring the USAP station safety policy and reinforcing safety as our highest priority.
Required Education, Certification, and Experience
15 years of combined experience in facility management and knowledge in all phases of preventive / corrective maintenance, including industrial and / or commercial facilities maintenance experience in HVAC.
Combustion heating appliances, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and overhead power distribution.
A minimum of 10 years managing personnel as a foreman, supervisor, or superintendent in the above disciplines is required.
Experience managing personnel in the above disciplines at remote sites is desirable.
The FMS Supervisor promulgates innovative practices that foster continuous improvement in station facility operations and science support.
The FMS Supervisor challenges the status-quo and existing paradigm by formulating and implementing high-quality, timely, and cost-effective programs.
Physical and Other Specific Requirements
Deployment to Antarctica is required in this position, and therefore the individual must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by NSF for deployment to Antarctica.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.
U.S. citizenship is required.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
Minimum Expected Skills and Competencies :
- The ability to read design drawings, specifications, and diagrams is required
- Minimum intermediate-level computer skills with MS Office Suite experience, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
- Be able and willing to learn and effectively utilize computer-based labor, inventory, and maintenance tracking applications
- Experienced with Building Automation Systems.
- Experienced with Direct Digital Control Systems
- Possess the competencies, willingness, and ability to perform the duties of the position
