Proposal Specialist - Desktop PublisherPosition Summary:
KBR is seeking a Proposal Specialist – Desktop Publisher to join our National Security Solutions (NSS) Group. NSS provides high-end engineering, intelligence, cyber security, missile defense, and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. Position location Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VA.
The Proposal Specialist – Desktop Publisher is an integral member of our pursuit development team and will assist in development and finalization of responses to Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for information (RFI), and other related customer response deliverables to Federal government agencies and/or partners. The Proposal Specialist – Desktop Publisher primary focus will be on all aspects of desktop publishing, including operating appropriate software and equipment to design, format, and produce master copies. The Proposal Specialist – Desktop Publisher will also support the Proposal Manager and Business Development team by providing assistance focused on the proposal format, requirements compliance, and adherence to the approved proposal preparation/review schedule. As needed, this role will assist the Proposal Manager and Business Development team coordinate the day-to-day proposal preparation process and provide timely responses to requests for supporting material.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepares, formats, and performs desktop publishing-related requirements (page orientation/limits; attachment requirements; tabulation) to ensure compliance with all RFP (Section L) specifications.
- Synthesizes, interpret, and translate the requirements and proposal submission instructions from RFPs.
- Works with various document types such as scanned, PDF, and handwritten.
- Uses MS Word to format and position text and graphics in a visually appealing way to design master copies using knowledge of type styles, size, and layout patterns.
- Creates MS PowerPoint Master Slide templates using Styles feature to align to RFP (Section L) specifications.
- Creates MS Word templates using Styles feature to align to RFP (Section L) specifications for proposal volume requirements, e.g., technical, management, resumes, and past performance.
- Uses compliance matrix to create compliant templates with specific instructions to assist technical authors.
- Supports multiple proposals and other tasks simultaneously, while committed to meeting deadlines.
- Collaborates with coworkers, graphic artists, proposal specialists, and proposal managers to produce master copies according to design specifications.
- Performs desktop publishing and coordinates the final proposal submission.
- Checks final copies for errors and makes necessary corrections.
- Prints and copies documents for meetings, proposal reviews, or delivery to customer.
- May edit and proofread content as needed.
- As needed, edits graphics using Adobe Illustrator and incorporates into MS Word master copies.
- As needed, works with large high-volume printers/copiers, GBC binding equipment, and paper folders/cutters.
Basic Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree. 8 years of related experience in lieu of formal education.
- 5 years desktop publishing experience in Federal Government proposal development
- Five or more years’ experience using MS Word, including developing template design, styles, layout, formatting, style guide adherence, and production
- Five or more years’ experience using MS PowerPoint, including developing template design, styles, layout, formatting, style guide adherence, and production
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and Adobe Acrobat products; working knowledge of Illustrator
- Excellent team player and customer-service oriented
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and efficiently under tight deadlines
- Willingness to flex work schedule (when coordinated in advance) to meet proposal objectives
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Knowledge of the proposal development process
- Familiarity with cloud-based content management systems such as SharePoint, Teams, and similar systems
- Has worked in the intelligence, cyber, information technology and/or space environments
- Demonstrated ability to write with clarity and articulate value and advantages
- Microsoft TEAMS or SharePoint administration
- Graphics development experience in PowerPoint and/or Illustrator is a plus
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Active Secret clearance required
Work Schedule:
Hybrid – Flexible schedule with time spent working from home and working and collaborating in the Colorado Springs, CO office.
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
40 hours per week
Basic Compensation:
$80,000 – $110,000
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
