THAAD Hardware Engineer
Position serves as a Hardware/Systems Engineer supporting the Terminal High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) Project Office (TPO) Training Aids, Devices, Simulations and Simulators (TADSS) office. Provides engineering and technical expertise to government product managers, senior leaders, and action officers concerning test planning, design, development, production, operations, and sustainment of various systems of THAAD TADSS Products. Develops and reviews technical drawings and specifications for compliance with requirements and performance specifications. Supports Statement of Work (SOW) generation. Reviews manufacturing procedures and processes to identify issues and problems with fulfilling design and production requirements. Provides engineering expertise at MDA review boards, System Requirements/Functional Reviews (SRR/SFR), Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) and other engineering events and milestone reviews. Provides technical evaluation and analysis at configuration management audits. Performs data analysis and risk assessments and identifies corrective actions and risk mitigation plans to meet product development and production schedules. Performs root cause analysis and identifies corrective actions plans for achieving product cost, schedule, and performance goals and milestones. Provides technical advice, analysis, assessments, and evaluation of products to improve affordability, reliability, maintainability, testability, and supportability. Offers expert technical advice to the TADDS product manager for acquisition activities to include acquisition plans/strategies, program/business plans, Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSPs), business/competition strategies, program management plans, financial management, cost analysis, management techniques, and documentation requirements.

- Travel: Occasional CONUS and OCONUS Travel required
- Work location is government site (Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville AL) with recurring telework
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an applicable STEM related field
- At least 15 years of technical systems engineering and/or hardware engineering experience supporting military weapon systems or training devices.
- Able to identify and resolve highly complex problems crossing organizational boundaries and ability to promulgate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues while performing testing using Integrated Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) Work Packages (WPs); work with THAAD Project Office (TPO) Logistics to define alternate instructions proposed to address WP issues.
- Ability to review system requirements and assess requirements compliance based on identified design and test program requirements.
- Significant experience generating courses of action and technical risk evaluations for design and manufacturing issue resolution for government product managers and senior leaders.
- Experience monitoring system fabrication processes and coordinating between the government design team and the supplier to assess process deficiencies and issues needing further consideration.
- Experience with overseeing Software (SW) installation and initial testing on system testbeds and on training systems; reporting identified issues. Developing status briefings/reports to the government Software Engineering office.
- Test oversite experience and ability to evaluate whether CDRL requirements have been met/Supplier activity evaluation and assessment.
- Be able to successfully navigate/coordinate within the project office for System Requirements input for Quality, Logistics, and training requirements. Limited coordination with SW qualification testing, installation, and hardware / software integration testing.
- Ability to evaluate overall design/manufacturing position and identify shortfalls in planning. Review test planning and provide input/feedback to all management and functional levels.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direct input in solving issues involving diverse staffs and resources.
- Excellent knowledge, skills and abilities using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with extensive experience briefing government leaders and Weapon System Chief Engineers.

- Experience Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate
- Comprehensive experience applying Department of Defense/Missile Defense Agency (MDA) acquisition policies on complex defense systems.
- DAWIA Level III SPRDE or INCOSE certification
