Who are we hiring? 
The Kansas City Current is seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Relations Manager to join our team. Our primary areas of focus are encouraging the power of sport for all, inspiring bold ambition for girls and young women and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The Community Relations Manager will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the organization, corporate partners, nonprofit organizations, fans, and local community members.  The role will support the effort to utilize CPKC Stadium and The University of Kansas Health System Training Facility as an asset to our fanbase, players and various stakeholders in the surrounding neighborhood and beyond. This role requires exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and an empathetic nature.
 
The Manager, Community Outreach, reports to the Vice President, Community Relations and contributes to the organization’s community relations mission by focusing on programs that develop fans, support our partners and strengthen our community.
 
What will you do? 
·        Assist in the development of programs and relationships with community partners and nonprofit organizations to enhance community pillars particularly around the core values of the company, including diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
·        Collaborate with Partnerships Department to implement community programs on behalf of team corporate partners for assigned programs.
·        Manage volunteer program providing opportunities for employees, players, partners, fans to effectively meet organization objectives. 
·        Oversee youth soccer outreach programming including programming at the team mini-pitches, youth clinics and training facility as part of community outreach initiatives. 
·        Provide input for building educational resources and activation plans around awareness months (Women’s History Month, Pride, Hispanic Heritage Month, AAPI, Black History etc.)
·        Work with department to prepare player appearance information including appearance sheets, record keeping and effective event preparedness. 
·        Along with department, identify and develop community programs & events that utilize both the Training Facility and CPKC Stadium as a community asset. 
·        Put into place performance measures to evaluate effectiveness of community-based initiatives.
·        Build relationships with counterparts at other local and league teams to amplify community impact. 
·        Provide input on social media, web content, calendars and other communication materials pertaining to community programs and events.
·        Create written content to maintain contact and enhance relationships with key audiences and program participants.
 
What do you need to succeed? 
·        The ability to represent, in a professional manner, the KC Current’s interests to community and fan base.
·        An understanding of the Kansas City community, surrounding cities, neighborhoods, and the relationship between club and local citizens
·        Effective communication skills including the ability to lead discussions and meetings. 
·        Empathetic and patient listener, with a genuine interest in supporting people of all ages and demographics. 
·        Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. 
·        Proactive problem solver who can adapt to changing situations and find creative solutions. 
·        Creative mindset for generating innovative content and community involvement ideas.
·        Experience in sports is beneficial, but not required.
·        A desire to bring your whole self to work to benefit the diverse interests of the club.  
·        Highly organized, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Special requirements of the Job: 
·        Education: Four-year (4) undergraduate college degree in marketing, communications, business, education, or related field required.
·        Experience: 4 years of experience in community relations, nonprofit programing, or sports related fields.
·        Passion for women's sports and specifically, women's soccer.
·        Ability to manage concurrent projects with overlapping timelines.
·        Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays. 
·        Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives.
