Job Summary
Provides counseling and advising support to dual credit students and credential seeking students, as well as supports Henderson Community College's recruitment and outreach efforts.
Job Duties:
• Serves as the academic advisor for all dual credit students
• Provides on-site assistance to the dual credit instructors at area high schools
• Provides on-site academic advising and support services at area high schools
• Promotes HCC scholarship opportunities such as Braves to College and Rotary Colonels to College.
• In conjunction with Academic Affairs, ensures dual credit course offerings align with Kentucky Department of Education and state regulations
• In conjunction with the Business Office, oversees the management and awarding of state and institutional dual credit scholarships
• Supports college’s high school recruitment and retention efforts
• Assists high school mentoring initiatives for underrepresented students as needed
• Supports and assists with the program for Early College Academy students
• Represents college on appropriate system-level workgroup and committees
• Administers a budget, if provided, for dual credit operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (Education with focus on Counseling or Student Affairs, or related field), and two years related experience, or equivalent. Experience working with students or adults from diverse backgrounds including underprepared, low-income, and underrepresented populations
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and customer service skills
• Ability to plan, organize and implement events and day-to-day operations/duties
• Demonstrates and facilitates a team spirit in department and community
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree (Counseling, or related field), and three years related experience, or equivalent.
• Experience working with high school aged students
