Job Summary
The Kentucky Fire Commission is committed to enhancing safety and education within the fire service for the citizens and industries within the Commonwealth through standardized special and technical education, training, communication, coordination, and the distribution of funds to the agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Job Duties:
We are currently accepting applications for Director of Fire Commission Operations (Manager IV Academic Support). This position is responsible for the Fire Commission programs for fire departments and firefighters set by KRS.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for Fire Commission incentive, state aid and loan programs with a budget of
over $28 million set by KRS for fire departments and firefighters.
• Ensuring timely disbursement of funds within guidelines established by KRS.
• Meets with fire chiefs, training officers and city and county officials.
• Functions as staff liaison at Fire Commission meetings. Prepares committee meetings
notices and agendas.
• Participates in regional and state fire schools.
• Investigates complaints in coordination with Fire Commission Training Records and
compliance Specialist.
• Assists fire chiefs with grant applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
The qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and 10 years related experience and a current driver’s license. The position is assigned to the Fire Commission Paris office and requires frequent in-state travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidates will have extensive knowledge of fire services processes and procedures. Must have working knowledge of fiscal operations including auditing and accounting.
