This position is grant funded and is a position within the Adult Education Department to provide academic instruction in the Adult Education Center and/or academic instruction to inmates at local correctional facilities.
Job Duties
- Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, and GED test preparation
- Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the regular use of computers and other educational and emerging technologies
- Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and math instructional strategies
- Provides continuous, data-driven feedback to students and adjusts instruction to optimize student learning outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and evaluate curriculum and other instructional materials
- Integrates work, family, and community-related activities into instruction
- Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic tests when necessary
- Ensures instruction is aligned to diagnostic test
- Applies adult education principles and methods in the classroom
- Maintains knowledge of program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Participates in professional development
- At a minimum, dedicates 75% of time in scheduled instruction in classrooms or facilitated labs.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication with diverse audiences
- Excellent organization skills
- Proficient computer and applicable software skills
- Bachelor's degree in education or a content-related field
- Candidate must take and score within NRS Level 6 in reading and math on the Test of Adult Basic Education,(TABE).
