Job Summary
Jefferson Community and Technical College is seeking qualified candidates for the Education Specialist role at the Southwest Campus.
This position provides opportunities to work with and learn nearly all departments in higher education, from Student and Academic Affairs to Facilities and Workforce Development.
The department is a team-led, high-functioning, student-focused environment.
Job Duties :
Examples of Duties : Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Serve as support to the Southwest Campus Director
- Serve as backup to the front office desk when needed
- Provide administrative support including but not limited to completing college paperwork for all steps in the purchasing process, room reservations, maintenance requests and related event requests.
- Lead and co-create education programming that provides opportunities for growth in social and cultural awareness, leadership skills, personal development, and service at the Southwest Campus
- Lead and co-create educational and social activities that foster a sense of belonging and opportunities for students to develop as leaders and engaged citizens on the Southwest campus
- Assist with Southwest Campus retention and outreach initiatives such as College and Career fair in Spring semester and developing new specialized programs housed at Southwest Campus with JCPS, Metro / UPS, Amazon and other community stakeholders
- Create and manage a mentorship program with Jefferson County Public Schools and specialize Bullitt County Public Schools
- Administers all assessments related to college placement at Southwest Campus
- Communicate directly with testers and students regarding testing policies, rules, and procedures
- Participation in committees, work groups, and professional development activities
- Collaborate with the marketing office on communications, social media advertisements and requesting Jefferson promotional material for event guests as needed.
- Occasional evenings are required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree (related field), and one-year related experience, or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preference extended to candidates with strong :
Computer literacy, presentation, and time-management skills.
Ability to work supportively in a culturally diverse environment of students, faculty, staff, and the community
Positive attitude with community / student / partner-centered focus.
Experience in event planning and / or project management and managing budgets.
Ability to engage colleagues and partners virtually.
