Motivated, innovative Early Childhood Teachers Assistants, to apply to join us for the remainder of academic year 2024-2025.

The job of Early Childhood Teacher Assistant was established for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom(s) with specific responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students; and providing support to teachers and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials (e.g. art projects, computer, language skills, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives.
  • Assist with classroom assignments for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
  • Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. read stories, providing writing assistance, reinforce language skills, numbers, alphabet, computer learning programs, etc.) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and developmental milestones.
  • Communicate with teachers for the purpose of assisting in implementing classroom objectives.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and records (e.g. clean/bleach tables, sign-in/sign-out logs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Perform general tasks (e.g. laminating, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, etc.) for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready.
  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
  • Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Type II state regulations, school policies and procedures, emergency drills, and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Attend professional development meetings and workshops to meet state guidelines.
  • Assist in diaper changing, bottle feeding, snack and lunch time, play time, stroller rides, etc.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Be an active advocate of Kehoe-France's vision, mission, and promises.

Other Responsibilities

  • Must be proficient in educational technology.
  • Lifting a 50 pounds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents on a regular basis.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in dual capacity as a teacher with students and support the administrative side of this role as a teacher.
  • Collaborative practitioner who works well with colleagues.
  • Ability to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Excellent phone etiquette, written, presentation, and in-person communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high face-to-face services to families/students/vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, dependable, professional, and can maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and team player.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Highschool diploma or GED and experience in a related field.
  • 1 years’ experience in a school setting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and education technology.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and efficiently complete all tasks assigned.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to interact/communicate with all types of members of the community including teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
  • Ability to problem solve.
