POSITION SUMMARY
The Fiscal Intermediary Associate will assist individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, utilize self- directed services. The Fiscal Intermediary is responsible for implementation of services as listed in the approved budget, and assist in payment of approved goods and services. This position requires a high degree of customer service and ensures best practices are carried out to achieve service effectiveness and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Activities include but are not limited to the following:
- Work with individuals and brokers to initiate and complete the self-direction process.
- Explain all fiscal procedures and required waiver documentation to individuals; such as the hiring and training of staff.
- Provide the Self-Direction individuals with copies of all written policies and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between individual, broker, and OPWDD
- Monitor individual’s budget utilization and perform monthly financial statement oversight review utilization, communicate overages and trends to support broker providing ongoing review.
- Provide quality assurance and administrative support working with individuals and their families.
- Perform OPWDD and center compliance reviews of ISPs
- Attend ISP meetings semi-annually representing the Fiscal Intermediary assessing satisfaction of services and financial budget oversight.
- Assist with record keeping, gathering required documentation for Community Hab/FI services, and providing follow up as needed.
- Provide administrative support including data entry and entering information into CHOICES system
- Completes all assignments in a timely manner.
- Preparation of statistical data
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
- Keeps abreast of changes in the field
- Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 1 to 3 years of experience in related field.
- Must have proficient verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat,
Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel).
- Must be able to understand and process financial reporting.
- Must have a valid New York State driver’s license.
- This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services, therefore, is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under
OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities).

- Job related tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or the potential for skin or mucous membrane contact from spills or splashes of these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at The Kelberman Center.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- The employee must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
