What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Designer position at Kellanova?

Join our Research and Development team as a Food Designer on the Portable Wholesome Snacks Team. Lead significant innovation and/or food reformulation savings projects from idea creation through launch. Engage with us as a resource to various functions and provide technical leadership to project teams. Develop and refine processes from generation through proof of concept to commercialization. This position can be based out of Battle Creek, MI or Chicago, IL and will work in a flexible, hybrid model with weekly in-office days (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).

Assume the role of value innovator, project leader, and technical problem solver for our Rice Krispie Treats and Pure Organic Brands. Working cross functionally, together you will provide timely / cost-effective value innovation and renovation to drive growth. Plus, you’ll get to work on iconic brands.

A Taste Of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drive Business Growth – Create and coordinate key value and renovation projects. You will give general direction to assigned teams in accomplishing projects from a technical perspective.
  • Project Management – Demonstrate your capabilities as a project manager, planner, coordinator, communicator, and technical expert within the department. This will include the ability to operate within ambiguity and respond creatively with original ideas to solve business challenges.
  • Leadership – Be a bridge builder with the passion and ability to work cross-functionally with others. Together you will identify solutions and influence others, including extensive work with external partners.
  • Innovation/Creativity – Provide innovative, timely / cost-effective improvements, concepts, developments, or scientific insights. Share understanding with respect to existing products or processes.
  • Technical Expertise - Use your leadership and knowledge within R &D as an expert in food design. You will keep current with the latest developments and technology through curiosity, investigation, training, and communication within that discipline.

We’re Looking for Someone With

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and/or Food Processing & Technology or higher education with relevant experience
  • Experience in product formula optimization and assessing emerging technologies in the food industry
  • Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, communication skills, and diplomacy
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to promote good relations with all facets of management and other technical and scientific disciplines in the effective execution of projects
