As a Foreign Trade Operations Manager you will be accountable for the execution of Import and Export Operations within governmental regulatory and compliance requirements - acting a representative with government agencies such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, FDA, US Customs & Border Protection, etc. A key accountability is to liaison and facilitate collaboration between U.S. manufacturing and shipping sites and international business partners as well as liaison and support innovation projects, global growth initiatives, plant expansions, and network changes that will impact the international business and/or distribution network. Bonus points if you speak multiple languages.

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Strategic mindset - Provide service and network strategy to ensure maximum service levels at minimal costs within government regulatory boundaries.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills - Through personal leadership and influence, ensures management of Import & Export operations reflect priorities of international business needs including high level of customer service. Includes management of day-to-day execution of Import/Export shipments, as necessary ensuring that appropriate documentation and compliance with all governmental regulations.; Provides leadership for the identification and implementation of best practices with other global regions such as Canada, Mexico, etc. for potential opportunities within their respective networks.
  • Foster robust relationships - Responsible for developing and managing strong business relationships with outside service providers to ensure C-co receives the greatest level of service available in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Continuous Improvement - Undertake process improvements within the department to improve efficiency and reduce risk. Track laws and regulations that might affect the organization policies. Strategically identify and pursue opportunities that will minimize total distribution expense.
  • People Leader - Manages a team of direct reports for import operations, compliance, product registrations, auditing, cross border projects, etc.


YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

  • Minimum of 8 years of Supply Chain experience, with a strong emphasis on Logistics and International Trade.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Logistics, International Business or a Financial discipline
  • U.S. Customs Broker’s License
  • Experience and knowledge of import and export operations and regulations. Extensive knowledge of 15 CFR Part 30, CFR Title 19, HTSUS & other Customs regulations.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills as well as ability to strategize are key requirements of this position.
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics with respect to the cross-border movement of goods (e.g. requirements relevant to various modes of transportation, shipping terms, customs reporting, clearance, and accounting processes).
  • Project Management and Financial skills experience are essential to effectively organize strategies, processes, and people.
