FULL TIME - Location: 301 W. Hurst Blvd., Hurst, TX - Factory - SUMMARY: The Assistant Product Manager supports the development and management activities related to the Kelly-Moore paint product line. The Assistant Product Manager coordinates between and provides direct support to the Manufacturing, R&D, Sales, and Marketing teams. The Assistant Product Manager performs market research on competitor products and completes physical product testing. The Assistant Product Manager performs root cause analysis of product application issues and communicate directly with customers to resolve their concerns.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:·Complete performance testing of architectural coatings.·Evaluate lab batches to aid development of new products.·Evaluate manufacturing batches for physical properties, application characteristics, and finish appearance.·Perform market analysis of competitor products and programs.·Perform side by side product comparisons of Kelly-Moore and competitive architectural coatings in order to generate benchmark reports.·Create product samples to be used internally or as demonstrations for customers.·Effectively perform root cause analysis of product issues in the field and in the test room.·Stock, clean, and maintain the test room area and all equipment used within.·Regularly make field technical calls to customers.·Develop and perform training sessions for employees or customers.·Participate in relevant trade shows and conventions.·Make recommendations to internal teams and customers about appropriate architectural coating systems and applications.·Oversee product finished good quality.·Regularly hold factory and warehouse visits to ensure product packaging, shipment, and general quality is maintained.·Identify opportunities and advise on plans for continuous product improvement.·Proactively manage potential old age inventory, requalification of material, and planning to reduce dead stock in stores and warehouses. ·Follow up on customer complaints and provide effective solutions that balance the needs of Kelly-Moore and it’s customers.·Promote a positive, ethical, professional, and customer-oriented company image. ·Operate with a spirit of transparency and partnership.·Perform additional duties required by management.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ·Ability to distinguish color as measured by a standard color acuity test.·Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.·Ability to use a computer and mobile phone.·Ability to operate paint spray equipment.·Ability to communicate in English. Fluency in at least one other language is preferred.·Ability to make effective presentations to internal and external audiences.·Ability to review and analyze numeric and non-numeric records and data in digital and print formats, including spec sheets and specifications.·Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and flex with the circumstances.·Ability to manage time and be productive.·Ability to operate a motor vehicle and meet the requirements of the company’s Employee Driving Agreement.·Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.QUALIFICATIONS: ·At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the paint and/or coatings industry. Business, marketing, or technical degree strongly preferred.·Well-developed communication skills, including oral and written comprehension and expression, and listening skills.·Strong problem solving skills.·Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods for providing customer service, including assessing the customer’s needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.·Demonstrated ability to influence others to change their mind or behavior or make a decision.
