ABOUT THE MARKETING COORDINATOR 

The Marketing Coordinator is a strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset, an unwavering eye for detail, and exceptional writing skills. This individual thrives in a team environment and plays a crucial role in maintaining the voice and visual representation of KST's mission and programs.

The Marketing Coordinator spearheads the management of weekly email marketing campaigns and ensures timely updates to our website content. Responsibilities also include crafting and scheduling engaging social media posts with ongoing attention and providing valuable support to the Marketing Specialist.

This role is pivotal in delivering an exciting, inclusive, and cohesive institutional identity aimed at driving event attendance and achieving ticket revenue goals. You will actively contribute to expanding our diverse audience and donor base while elevating our visibility within the community.


SALARY & BENEFITS 

This is an in-person, part-time, non-exempt position and pays $17.00/hr. The salary rate is fixed. Please don’t apply if this compensation is not right for you. REPORTS TO: Marketing Specialist

DIRECT REPORTS: Marketing Interns, as assigned


SCHEDULE

Please note that this is an in-person, non-remote position. You may work up to twenty hours per week on site at KST’s offices. Our typical office hours are 10am-6pm on weekdays and this position also requires some evening and weekend hours. We will work with you to establish a regular schedule that works for you.

ABOUT KELLY STRAYHORN THEATER 

Named after 20th-century entertainment legends and Pittsburgh natives Gene Kelly and Billy Strayhorn, Kelly Strayhorn Theater is a home for creative experimentation, community dialogue, and collective action rooted in the liberation of Black and queer people. KST takes a multidisciplinary approach to presenting contemporary performing arts while examining the questions that define and inspire us as individuals and communities. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing 

  • Maintain and update the KST website weekly
  • Draft and send regular KST email newsletter, press releases and email marketing
  • Build web graphics, digital programs, and event signage with input from the Marketing Specialist and Development & Communications Director
  • Ensure all KST materials meet organizational standards of visual engagement, consistency, and alignment with KST’s established brand identity 

 

Social Media 

  • In collaboration with the Marketing Specialist, create, schedule, and publish relevant, original, high-quality content on all KST social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Work closely with Marketing Specialist to implement and manage a content calendar
  • Plan specific content campaigns for signature KST Presents events or KST initiatives
  • Develop and implement social media advertising plans with Marketing Specialist 
  • Take KST’s online brand presence to the next level as reflected by increased fans/followers; and engagement -- likes/shares/retweets/ and tags

 

Events 

  • Work with the Marketing Specialist to ensure departmental coverage of all KST events. (This job requires some evening and weekend hours.)
  • Guide event photographers to follow predetermined shot list.

 

REQUIREMENTS (please don’t apply if you don’t have the following):

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent KST well to community groups, renters, patrons, donors, and volunteers.
  • Experience managing project workflows and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent writing skills with consistency and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of current social media and email platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, etc.

 

PREFERENCES (you should still apply even if you don’t have all of these traits):

  • Minimum two years of experience in performing arts marketing and public relations, including a broad understanding of all aspects of theater. 
  • Knowledge of HTML, Wordpress, and CSS is a plus
  • Photo/video/audio editing experience is a plus.
  • An interest in and curiosity for broad aspects of art and performance.
  • Familiarity with Wordpress or similar platform and social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Mailchimp or Meta Business Suite)
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive and Canva

 

We are looking for someone that has good experience in most of the knowledge areas mentioned above, but most importantly someone that is able to learn quickly and implement new techniques to improve their workflow!
