Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to join our customers Food & Nutritional Services team. The Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing and serving food in accordance with standardized recipes, ensuring quality and palatability, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare or direct the preparation of various types of foods according to standardized recipes to meet standards of palatability and quality.
- Verify food temperatures according to policy.
- Maintain work areas and equipment, ensuring ovens, tables, sinks, and work areas are clean and sanitized.
- Ensure proper techniques are used in the storage, handling, and holding of all food items. Label, date, and wrap leftovers.
- Receive and store stock and supplies in appropriate places; notify Registered Dietitian of food shortages and equipment needing repair.
- Follow infection control policies, including hand washing policies when handling dishes and preparing nourishments.
- Demonstrate willingness to assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
- Verify temperatures of coolers and freezers, three-compartment sink, and dishwashing machine.
- Participate in monthly in-services.
- Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assess risks for safety and implement appropriate precautions.
- Comply with appropriate and approved safety standards.
- Utilize appropriate leadership skills in delegating, organizing, and educating coworkers and staff.
- Respond to department needs.
- Participate in and contribute to the quality improvement process for the department and the institution.
- Demonstrate an understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the hospital.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital or similar food service environment is a plus.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
