What’s a typical day as a Heat Treat Operator? You’ll be:
Basic Function:
- Requires specific knowledge of general heat treat requirements for titanium, nickel based alloys, and stainless steels.
- Use proper heat treat scheduling to ensure proper sequence for product through heat-treating cycles.
- Load and unload furnaces.
- Responsible for heat-treat and process furnace accuracy and uniformity surveys.
- Must be familiar with the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of all furnace controllers.
- Work with the computer to analyze the furnace charting program data being generated by each furnace.
- Enter and track data in MS Excel spreadsheet.
- Complete all required paperwork including, but not limited to, furnace maps, furnace charts, work orders and travelers, maintaining all required traceability standards
- Perform shot blasting of parts to remove scale, when needed
- Conduct Brinnell Hardness testing when needed
- Perform general duty labor as required.
Basic Requirements:
- Able to access and operate forklifts to approved O.S.H.A. standards.
- Able to maintain attendant paperwork logs, records, and files, both on paper and on the computer.
- Able to move parts on and off pallets and in and out of the shot blasters.
- Able to read and interpret shop order instructions, specifications, and other written and verbal instructions in English.
- Must have a strong proficiency in MS Excel.
