Kelly Engineering is currently recruiting for a (Direct Hire) (Maintenance Technician) job located in Staunton, VA. Constructs, modifies, tests, and maintains electrical and electronic systems and components. Ensures systems and components meet established specifications. Performs preventive and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of manufacturing and facilities equipment. Job functions will include diagnosing, replacement, and improvement of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and robotic components and systems.
Pay Rate Range -$35/hr.-$40/hr.

Responsibilities:
- Programs a variety of motor drives and PLC’s. Modifies controls.
- Knowledgeable of HMI’s (Human-Machine Interface) and capable of building, programming, and modifying.
- Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test and modify electronic parts and systems.
- Conducts programming backup’s for CNC equipment with PLC’s and other control systems. Properly stores for reference.
- Designs and builds controls in order to upgrade obsolete units.
- Builds electrical enclosures from design prints for upgraded and new equipment development.
- Implements process improvements and manages projects.
- Modifies and updates electrical prints.
- Identifies and communicates suggestions for continuous improvement and operational excellence by using appropriate lean and reliability centered maintenance principles and tools.
- Performs tasks related to the safe upkeep, repair, and improvement of manufacturing equipment in a fast paced metal fabrication facility.
- Install, maintain, and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment including modifying and adjusting complex process equipment and instruments.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to documented procedures and instructions.
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, logic controllers, power supplies, drives, gages, robotics, and test equipment.
- Ensure equipment is safe and operational.
- Follow lock-out/tag-out and all other safety procedures.
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, PLC ladder logic, computer controls, and machine/inspection manuals.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, fork truck, hand tools, and power tools.
- Start devices to test their performance.
- Maintain maintenance records.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Initiate purchase order for parts and machines as needed.
Educations & Qualifications:
- Journeyman Certification and/or 10 yrs. experience in an electronics and equipment maintenance position.
- Associates Degree in electronics or engineering related field.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic components, including AC & DC motors, PLC, Machine and control panel wiring, Industrial sensors, Control I/O, Drives. Precision bearings, Lead screws, Linear guides, Power transmission systems, Pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, and Robotics. Ability to design, program, repair, and improve electrical/electronic systems.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one, small group situations, and with multiple levels of the organization.
