What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Planner/Buyer position at Kelly?
Orleans County manufacturer is looking for a Material Planner/Buyer – Direct Hire
Essential responsibilities include coordinating all activities involved with identifying, ordering and scheduling the company’s requirements for raw materials, supplies, services, manufactured components, subassemblies and assemblies.
Duties will include:
- Responsible for critical product component procurement dictated by special delivery schedules, critical sourcing requirements, and/or selected vendor support needs.
- Coordinates the transportation and delivery of raw materials/components/supplies/etc., with foreign and domestic vendors, company affiliates and transportation agents.
- Analyze manufacturing requirements vs. material/component availability, enter new raw material/component purchase orders, and communicate purchase orders to suppliers.
- Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule. Prepares bid requests as required; places purchase orders.
- Expedites delivery of purchased raw material, supplies and services. Performs pre-expedite activities for selected vendors.
- Determines and maintains inventory levels necessary to achieve overall company goals.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and takes corrective action. Processes debit memos as required.
Salary will be based on previous experience.
