SUMMARY:
Grinding on O.D. cylindrical grinders, holding .001 tolerance. Sets up and operates grinding machine to grind outside diameter of part to blueprint tolerances. Also grinds shoulder face to hold overall length of part.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Lifting equipment, hand tools, measuring equipment (OD mics from 1 to 40), depth mics, indicators (magnetic-based), tooling fixtures, assortment of company gages & equipment, etc.

Responsibilities:
- Check and follow router.
- Set up machine and qualify tooling.
- Load the part on the machine.
- Run the part through the machine by following instructions per router.
- Inspect and insure parts are to print.
- Remove the part from the machine.
- Make out a move ticket to send the part to the next operation.
- Obeys all safety rules, wears proper PPE, and performs housekeeping functions.
- They need to be able to read and understand prints.
Must possess the ability to perform the following:
- Ability to operate the Surface Grinders
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, familiar with GDT
- Ability to do own machine set-ups
- Ability to pick out proper tooling for each job
- Knowledge of proper speeds and feeds
- Knowledge of shop math
- Tight tolerance ability
- Ability to perform own inspections
- Competency in use of basic precision measuring instruments
- Employee must furnish own hand tools and micrometers up to 4
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Mechanical Skills Read and interpret drawings blueprints
- Communicate to Foreman/Supervisor
- 10 years of relevant machining experience
- Knowledge of shop math, measuring and calibration instruments
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
