What's a typical day as a Plant Accountant:
- The Plant Accountant will support the site's daily operations and monthly financial reporting, analysis, planning, and forecasting. Additionally, the Plant Accountant will support plant decision-making by providing local KPIs, monitoring plant expenses, analyzing capital rationalization, and is responsible for product costing and reviewing sales margins. This position will have the opportunity to interact with various teams at the local plant and the division office to present analyses and develop strategies for better performance.
Position Responsibilities
- Monthly preparation of the site, monthly closing of plant inventory ledgers, and responding to questions on spending, product cost variances, and period expenses
- Maintain local KPIs and support operations, including cost analysis, inventory control, product unit cost, variance analytics
- Along with the Cost Accounting Manager, responsible for maintaining standard costing at the site
- Responsible for managing site fixed assets and preparing ROI analysis for future asset purchases
- Reconcile monthly inventory accounts
- Compile data and prepare a variety of reports upon request.
- Function by established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
- Process and review Account Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare remote bank deposits.
- Process and review Payroll in payroll software
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum three (3) years of accounting or business-related experience
- Proven knowledge of financial statements, journal entries, and GAAP
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Documented history of developing and maintaining positive working relationships in a multi-stakeholder culture
- Ability to deliver results while working in a team-focused environment
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of accounting or business-related experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in manufacturing variance analysis and standard costed inventory
- Report writing using Microsoft Power BI
