What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Chemist position at Kelly?
Location: Petaluma, CA
Schedule and Compensation:
- Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday: 7am-7pm. Comp is 27-29/hr. base 15 shift diff.
- Swing shift: Monday-Friday 1:30pm-10pm. Comp is 27-29/hr. base 10 shift diff.
Individuals must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
- Learn and perform oligonucleotide manufacturing activities (synthesis, cleavage and deprotection, purification, filtration, and freeze-drying) in accordance with written protocols and management instruction.
- Learn to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain instruments used in lab (I.e. AKTA OligoPilots, HPLC skids, TFF skids, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, purification columns and associated hydraulic systems, etc.)
- Follow cGDPs defined in company SOPs to record production operations in paper batch records, equipment logs, and other records.
- Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment and work station.
- Communicate with other internal groups to assist with the continued development and optimization of manufacturing logistics and processes.
Skills and Abilities:
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills particularly within and between teams.
- Able to methodically complete multiple tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
- Technical proficiency that enables effective execution of documented procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
Education/Experience:
Required:
- A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field; Associate’s degree/Biotech certification with 2 years of relevant industry experience in a Manufacturing environment; or, 4 years of relevant industry experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in fundamental algebra and able to perform calculations in a scientific setting.
Preferred:
- Previous work or research experience in a manufacturing lab (i.e. bioprocess laboratory).
- Knowledge of related instrumentation and underlying principles (e.g. HPLC, organic synthesis, AEX and RP chromatography, chemical safety practices).
- Experience with cGMP methodology in production and documentation.
